Example: Sod shock tube In this example we demonstrate a classic hydrodynamic test problem, the Sod shock tube. The setup is quite simple. Two regions of gas with different initial densities and pressures are established in contact with one and other. This will set up a shock travelling into the low density/pressure region, and a rarefaction moving into the high density high pressure region. There is a semi-analytic solution for this system, and in the results we plot the simulated solution against the analytic.
